Located in the heart of Cork City, St Maries of the Isle is a vibrant co-educational primary school with a proud history dating back to 1892. As one of the oldest schools in the city, we are deeply rooted in the local community while continuing to provide a modern, child-centred education for over 300 boys and girls.

Set in the historic surroundings beneath Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral, our school is within walking distance of Cork City centre and close to many major employers and institutions, including University College Cork, the Mercy University Hospital, the Bon Secours Hospital and the Tyndall National Institute.

At St Maries of the Isle, we foster a warm, inclusive and welcoming environment where every child is valued and supported to reach their full potential. While we have a Catholic ethos, we proudly celebrate the rich diversity of our multicultural school community and show respect for all faiths and backgrounds.

Our school includes four Autism Classes and a Nurture Room, reflecting our strong commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and supporting the individual needs of all pupils.

We are proud to offer a wide range of extracurricular activities that encourage creativity, confidence, teamwork and enjoyment. These include chess, basketball, athletics, choir, ukulele and guitar.

To further support our families, we provide two after-school care services as well as a daily Homework Club. All children in the school benefit from a hot lunch programme, with meals selected from a varied weekly menu, alongside healthy snacks each day.

At St Maries of the Isle, we combine tradition, inclusivity and innovation to create a caring and inspiring learning environment where children can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
