Intercultural Day a huge success

The school was a riot of colour on June 9 as Intercultural Day was celebrated in some style at St Maries of the Isle.

The day was a celebration of the diverse and multicultural school population, giving students and their families a chance to showcase the culture of their home countries.

Students were invited to come to school in clothing that represented their country of origin.

Parents were then invited to the yard in the afternoon to give people a flavour of the cooking from their native land.

Countless countries from around the world were represented on the day, with parents cooking traditional and typical dishes.

Students, staff and parents alike were invited to sample the food laid on, with the beautiful weather adding to what was a lovely atmosphere.

Well-known DJ Stevie G. was on duty in the halla, where he played songs from around the world for the children to dance to and enjoy.

A big thank you to Miss O’Sullivan and her team of helpers for organising what was a hugely enjoyable and successful event.
